Just a heads up.

Duluth Pack just emailed me that they have pretty much the entire line of Gransfors axes -- including their historical style axes -- in stock (probably why it's been so hard to get them, all of the production was probably going to fiil the DP order.)

DO NOT LOOK IF YOU HAVE AN AVERSION TO SMOKING HIGH PRICES -- ESPECIALLY FOR THE HISTORICAL PIECES!!

But it's a good way to see the whole line and drool.

They have the selection. Retail price list too. With Gransfors you do get what ya pay for.

Yeah, I happened to find that yesterday while looking up Duluth packs. I didn't know it was new or I would have posted something. I've backed away slowly from the site as I reconsider my next CS hawk mod. :33:

I liked the tomahawk and the battle axe until I saw the prices.

Nothing Gransfors is cheap. However the more common ones like say the Small SFA or the Scandinavian Forest axe, can be had for cheaper on the net.

Anyone know why this is so expensive?

Looks like the SFA in the picture. It's the same weight and length as the Wildlife Hatchet. Why the extra $60?

Wrong picture on the Duluth site. The correct image is:

I would love to have one of their battle axes. You know, for killing orcs and stuff...

Yep, and if I had $850, I'd already have that battle axe!!

Argh, brings out the Viking!

If you're wanting one of those historical axes why not contact a reputable smith for a quote?

AY such a site gets the blood boiling to go a viking, once the harvest is over..., Yet the folks at Duluth Pack do want more than a few pretty pennies for their imported goods......I say's while the Gransfor are worth the price paid, I think I'd rather be paying someone else less than the fine folks in Duluth, they do think highly of themselves... and while I own a few items from both companies....it pays to check carefully and buy quality....as like many I can only afford to buy most times but once.....

Like I said before, the DP folks are asking MSRP, they are not overcharging. I've never seen the historical pieces for less elsewhere, and most places you have to wait up to a year, as Gransfors generally makes them to order -- hence their expense.

That's a fine idea.

My primary reason to post this was that unless one has bought a Gransfors and read the axe books that come with them, or read them somewhere else, they probably haven't seen the whole line of what GB makes. If nothing else, they can see something that catches their fancy and have a maker try to come as close as they can.

Thanks for the post. Those are some real beauts, but can't afford those prices.
