Obviously we all know they make a good firestarter, but don't be afraid to use them as chapstick and to keep the blade on your knife from rusting when in the field. I'd say you could use it on burns also, but I guess there is some research saying it's not good for that.

Multi-use stuff, for sure. Good for lube too.

some of the reasons they are in the kit...aside from the obvious...are what you just posted.

I was with you right up until using for burns. Yes, no, maybe. Wind burn, yes! Heat burns, no. PJ will hold the heat in and make it worse.

I most certainly would not put a cotton ball on a burn; a PJ impregnated gauze pad is a whole other story however.
