I'm in the process of crafting up my first bowie. Here's a few pics thus far and will be updating this as time allows. Forgive the pics, I'm in pursuit of a new camera at the moment.

Cumberland style blade with a more modernized handle for comfort as I think at 1/4" thickness a coffin handle would wear a Guy out.

Looks good brother. I like the new handle design instead of a traditional coffin style. Would make for a much more comfortable grip. Keep it up man, very nice work.

I don't know who it's for but I'm sure that would be perfect.:D

Did that sucker take forever and a day to profile in that 5160? I feel your pain, brutha. When I profile that stuff I usually end up make several embers on the bench before I'm done. I've got a nice hole burnt there now though.:D

Looking forward to seeing this one come along.

Took about 45-50 mins and 3 60 grit belts lol. I cooked the steel for 6 hours at 1245 after the initial 1525 ramp. Still hard as woodpecker lips....

Thanks all, much appreciated!

Lol. I hear ya, brother.
Have you tried norton blaze belts? I use a 36 grit blaze for this kinda stuff, I go through one belt per big knife out of 5160. Just to give a comparison, I only go through one 36 grit blaze for 6 finished knives in o-1. That's grinding profiles , bevels and roughing in micarta handles. They're tough belts.:dblthumb:

I better not see any pink scales on that. You can save those for Koa. They will go perfect with his sleepy bear romper.

I am going to have to get creative with my gun belt setup, to have it match up. I wonder if I could get the revolver grips made like that. How cool would that be in a SASS rig, coupled with the belt pouch from Pete?

I must plan.

Hey Mac the companion is in the first pic with derringer and fourth pic as well in osage, on this page (http://bushcraftusa.com/forum/showthread.php?t=30258) only fully handled in Honduran rosewood.
