I am wondering what others, especially the Administrators, might think about having a "Glossary Of Definitions" (or whatever title you prefer) Thread? Many of us are new to a lot of the terminology used on this site. Even following posts and threads relating to a term can be a chore. Some of us have to make time to even visit the site, much less spend hours figuring out what is being discussed.

Not sure what "terminology" your referring to?

There is not exactly any "code" talk going on.

Care to elaborate?

OMM-

R U referring to abbreviations like lol, psk, sak, imho, iirc, bob, and roflmao?

For non-bushcraft related slang/abbreviations you can go to a site like this:

Chatslang (http://www.web-friend.com/help/lingo/chatslang.html)

For the bushie stuff, just hang around and you'll pick it up over time like everyone else. Good luck.:dblthumb:

Good idea:35:
I had no idea what SAK or EDC stood for, for the longest time :4:

Different grind styles, knife styles, and parts commonly used in bushcraft, knot names, packs, snow shoe shapes and styles. There is a fair amount of terminology to do with bushcraft.

I've been on this forum for a longer time than I usually spend on a forum due to the interest I have for the subject. It still took me a long time to realize that GHB meant: Get Home Bag; and that WTT: Want to Trade; and FAK: First Aid Kit.

I can see where lots of folks new to the subject and this forum might be in the dark.

I remember reading when I first registered here, a sticky concerning using abbreviations, slang etc. Basically it requested that we do not do so, even though we sometimes find ourselves falling into this trap.

I doubt that my postings influence too many folks here, but this is something that we should try to remedy for the sake of those who are new to Bushcrafting ('Shrafting).

We all say we want others to become interested in our favorite pursuit so let's make it easier for them to do so.

OK: Okay? ( I guess that one was easy enough - not a good example...)
