View Full Version : A Brief Review of the Schrade Camp Knife

I recently purchaced the Schrade camp knife to try out. It is basicly a copy of the US knife (ie. demo knife, mil-k, ect.).

The overall fit and finish is ok, not perfect but good for the price. The joints were a bit loose but some light peaning fixed that easily.
The blade is very sharp and seems to be fairly good steel.
The can opener apears to be useable but i haven't tried it yet.
The flathead screwdriver/bottle opener is excellent, better than my SAK.
The awl dosn't even have a point on it but works well for striking the firesteel.
Since this knife is all stainless steel it is ideal for use around water or for food prep.

This knife isn't quite as good as the "real deal" US knife, but it is useable and fairly sturdy. Selling for less then $12, its a good beater or spare. I plan to use mine until I can find a good deal on a real US knife and I think that it will serve me well.

Hmmm... An Ebay US knife tends to go for about twice that. Sounds like it might be a better deal! Thanks for the review. Think I will look for a Camillus!
