Some fall colours

Before going into work this morning, I decided to follow up on some picture taking of fall colours.

After closer inspection, its really only a subset of trees that are really turning the colours now. Locust, hickory, staghorn sumac and sassafras are really starting to show while the maples are still green and the oaks are doing that turn brown thing. Still, it seems like a long time since we've had a truly spectacular fall and it always seems that a big storm comes and blows all the leaves away before they peak. This year, I want to keep an eye on things and after yesterday's walk I decided to go back to study some colour.

Unfortunately, my landscape lends developed a smudge in it that I didn't find out until after I got back. Oh well....Here are some of the vibrant colours from today.

Nice pics! I think we're pretty close geographicalically, and I've noticed the same thing as you, small subset, except our maples are turning pretty good, especially the sugars. things have progressed a lot in the past week.

It's looking like a nice fall.
