View Full Version : Straight razor to carving knife

I know I made a thank you post in the general setion but this is where I will be posting the pics after I do the blade mod then get the handle carved up for it. I am going to turn this razor I got from another member for a trade to a detail carving knife took some 1000 grit to the blade just a few strokes gonna be wicked easy to get a killer edge on it. Hoping to get to working on it this week or by next at the latest.
I will be doing the work on it with my dremel

I have made several carving knives from razors. Mainly for carving decoys.

Got any pics of them? any tips ya can offer greatly appreciated never done anything like this before LOL

I will post a few pics for you tomorrow. I ground mine on a 1x42 belt grinder. They were ground slowly. I continually dipped the blades in a small bucket of ice water as to not ruin the temper.

Thanks Mate yeah I figured about having some cold water last thing I wanna do is heat it up to much

Working up the handle design for my carving knife and pretty much sorting out about where this will be getting cut
