I have wondered on other boards how the title situation is handled. With that in mind I decided to post the titles at the postings that are required to reach each one.

Tinder Gatherer: 0 - 49 posts

Tracker: 50 - 99 posts

Scout: 100 - 499 posts

Bushmaster: 500 - 999 posts

Elder: 1000+ posts

I say up the post count on those. I think you'd be surprised how fast those numbers will be attained.

naa. ill live with stick in the mud!
when i think that i know alot...someone always puts me in my place! lol

hey, do you know how many bows and arrows that i made that DID NOT TURN out ?

well im not telling anyway! hahaha
but its a whole lot!

what i do is a combination of self taught-handed down-or teachings from wise ndn friends....and trying to adapt there ways to fit MY individual style.
everyones form is different and circumstance,be it hunting, target, survival.
im just giving one tiny facet of a gem for you all to see in "my" light.

im sure you can teach me a thing or two as well .

Just wondering, what are the current post counts per level ?

Jason
02-01-2009, 02:34 PM
Tinder Gatherer- 0
Tracker- 100
Scout- 250
Guide- 1000
Bushwhacker- 2500
Bushmaster- 5000
Elder- 7500

This is the lastest revision to the user title ranking. We reserve the right to change these at any time based on Trekon86's blistering post count. By my calculations he'll be an elder in 3 weeks. :D

PS- I did not include the temporary 50 post mystery title some have already seen that's thrown in there somewhere.

Can we just make Trekon a special status title "Super Elder Moderator Poster King" ? :)

I think he has broken the curve. <G> Suspect I will be dead before I get to Elder status , but what else have I got to do ? :)

Yeah, but I think it will take about 4 years at my current posting rate to make "Elder", and I feel elder as hell sometimes now <G>.
They better hurry up with some of those rejuvenative drugs I keep reading about, or I'll be posting from a nursing home <VBG>.

Faol and I talked about the user titles early on. Our first system was way too easy and would allow almost everyone to get top status very quickly. This updated ranking makes it difficult to get to the top tier. And I suspect most people should hover in the middle which is where it should be. But who cares about a title anyway?

Just a thought but could you possibly make a user title that says something like "Honorary Elder" It seems like that title of respect or something similar is in order for some of the members that visit here. What comes to my mind is ........... being tinder gatherer. Maybe "Respected Elder" would be more apropriate for that type of thing. I know there are others here I was just using this as an example.

I was thinking more on this. Would there be anyway to add for those members in the right side area of information there particular area of expertise if you did such a type of title i.e. Primitive Skills Expert, Medical Expert, Wood Craft Expert, Etc....?

We have no intention of singling people out for honors, that is not fair to the other members. The user ranks are not a ranking based on knowledge or respect, only post count. Respect comes with time and when you earn it properly no one will care in the least what your user title says. The more you contribute to forum activity the higher you rise in the title system. Pathfinder is a tinder gatherer because he has 18 posts. The other question is by what arbitrary system would we base these honorary "awards"? Should I be qualified to determine someone's level of skill? Perhaps Faol? See where the difficulty is now? I like to think that Bushcraft USA is as fair a forum as you can hope to have, that is important to us.

I don't think we will label people as specialists in any given area. Again, who makes that determination? Only you as the individual can decide who has the best information for you. I may say I'm a surgeon but the truth is that none of you actually know if I even went to medical school. Self-proclaimed experts are what is wrong with forums in general.

I will promise one thing to the loyal members of Bushcraft USA, If Bear Grylls joins I will give him an honorary title. That title will be... TOOL:p

Koa, point well taken! Just an idea/suggestion I was throwing out there to share. I also did not mean to single out who I did and I'm going to remove their name from my post because after reading yours I feel that I have unintentionally singled someone out. Would you please remove your reference to the individual as well Koa. Thanks for helping me see the light!

I appologize to the individual I named for singleing them out.

KOA I respect your response and will honor it as long as I am a member here. I have edited my signature with that regard.

You have no reason to edit anything pure_mahem, in fact go ahead and put it back if you like. As for the signature, I never thought any of my words would be worth quoting. :D
