Winter Camp in the Pinyon Juniper Woodland

My son-in-law and I just finished a 2 night camp in the pinyon/juniper of western Colorado. He road his fat bike and I unsuccesfully chased bunnies. Here are some photos.

We dug out about 6 inches of snow for the wall tent.

This was a full featured drive up camp. The drive however included about 10 miles of four wheeling on BLM back roads

Tent was 12x14 made by Davis Tent and Awning in Denver. Stove from Davis also. Bannock in the frypan, baccon in the aluminum foil, coffee in the press

Looks awesome, what were the temperatures like?

Low temp was +8F. High shade temp about 25. Camp was at 6700 feet. Skys were clear. No wind. Temperature in the sun was warm enough so that I was down to my long underwear top while doing camp chores outside. Once the morning fire took hold the temp inside the tent was in the 60s most of the time.

Glad to see some other gray heads out there . ( maybe your prematurely gray if so sorry )
Nice set up . What kind of rabbits do you have out there ?

I am 64 so in my mind the gray is premature. (Humor).. Cottontails. Lots of tracks in the snow but no rabbits in the bag. Just like elk season. (More humor)

Whenever we'd get a fresh snow that quit just before dawn back when I was in high school Id suddenly develope a stomach ache and call in sick . Luckily mom worked .

Follow the bunnies right to their hideouts .
