here's a few recently acquired blades..

U.K. made Terry Kidd light-bushie.. this thing is really nice.. insanely sharp, very lightweight and agile..

next is a blade i have wanted for a looong time.. a Brian Andrews Terrasaur.. i love the overall design of this knife.. it's very comfortable in the hand..

That smallest Pete Gerber is a knife that I also have. I believe he marketed it as a Bird & Trout? Those things are like little scalpels. When I was in my late 20's, I worked at a gunshop that stocked Gerbers (in 1977, I believe). One evening, near Christmas, a couple came in looking for a gift for their son and asked to see that model. I took it out of the waist-high glass case between us and started to hand it over, grip first. Somehow, I dropped the knife and as it headed for the top glass, instead of letting it go, I grabbed for it. It fell grip first, the grip hit the counter top, point up, and my palm came down on the tip of the blade. It sliced all the way through and about 3/8" of the tip was sticking out of the top of my hand between my index finger and "bird" finger about 3/4" below the web of the two fingers. I looked up at the couple who stood there with wide eyes and open mouths, excused myself, turned around and went into the back room where I had a co-worker pull the knife out. I got it cleaned and bandaged up, cleaned up the knife, walked back out and told the couple that they had just seen why the knife was so popular; it was very sharp. The couple bought it and hurried out the door. I drove over to the emergency room and got 8 stitches and a tetanus shot. Still have the small scar...on both sides of my hand. I ended up buying that model too.

    Ezra:

The small Gerber in the picture is a Pixie. I also have the Bird & Trout, which has the same blade blank, but with the tip back-sharpened half an inch for eviscerating cuts and the handle longer and with a little spoon cast into it butt. They have high-carbon blades that are hard-chromed except at the edge.

Yow! These is no better way to sell a knife than presenting it really, really sharp. And catching a falling knife is right up there with catching a falling anvil.

    Namaste!

Nice - a rare find. As far as I know he hasn't re-opened his shop yet since the fall when he moved to a new house. I guess we will be back at the grinder this Spring.
