Default ALICE pack repair - What thread?

    I need some help.

My ALICE pack has a strap coming undone on the bottom and I need to sew it.

Where can I fine thread similar to what the pack is constructed of? I assume it's some kind of nylon, but I am not sure.

Anyone know what I should use? Guess it would be a good item to keep in the repair kit after.

    Thanks!

you can get nylon thread like they make them with at a place like JoAnn Fabrics. it's not the polyester/cotton stuff, but nylon... i think they do embroidered emblems (hats, t-shirts, that sort of thing) with it too.

your location shows "upstate new york". if you're anywhere near fort drum, there's was a dry cleaning place on hwy 342, about 1/4 mile west of where it crosses route 11, that also does repairs. guy's name is Don. Wife is Korean. i'm guessing it would cost you a couple bucks.

actually, any place that does the embroidered shirt/hat thing could do it too, and you'd not have to buy the thread or have the machine.

but then, there's a lot of satisfaction in 'do it yourself'.

How much do you need, I'm happy to put a few meters of bonded nylon thread in an envelope and post it, postage to the USoFA only costs $1.55AUD

That is the stuff I have, incredibly strong, bugger to use in a machine unless you have the correct ceramic eyed needles with triangular points but OK for hand sewing.
Group buy and share it around???
