I have been trying to get the ball rollin on the menu for the 101 class in a couple weeks. I decided to go with a classic for lunch on Saturday. Hudson Bay Bread. It is really not bread more like a beastly granola bar. This is not a light snack, it is loaded with carbs. It is even better when you put peanut butter and jelly on it. Here is the ingredients.
Ingredients:
3/4 lb. softened butter
2 cups sugar
1/3 cup light Karo syrup
1/3 cup honey
1 tsp maple flavoring
3/4 cup ground nuts (walnuts)
9 cups Quaker 1-minute oats
First off, take all of the ingredients except for the oats and nuts, and mix them together.

Then add the oats and nuts and mix them well.
Press them into a pan, so they are about 1/2" thick. Put it in the oven at 325 for 15 min. Take them out and press the baked mixture with a spatula while it is hot. This will keep it from falling apart when it cools. Cut it when it is still warm.
Let it cool, and enjoy.
I used wax paper to separate these and vacuum sealed them They are going into the freezer till I pack for the Bushcraft 101 class in Sept.
