I am very new to Bushcraft. I was a boy scout as a boy, but I grew up on an army base located on a Pacific Island so we had limited opportunities to truly get out and test out the skills we learned. I never thought about using a mallet (makeshift or otherwise) to assist the knife with cutting tasks. Thanks for putting this up, I cannot wait to practice this and put it to use in the future.
