Thumbs up The wait list and contact list

If you don't see your order here and it's supposed to be give me a holler.

***Just how long do I have to wait? I get that question a lot and understandably so. Here's my best answer.
On average, I make about 100 knives a year (about 8 knives a month). The wait list currently (as of 9/15/13) has 179 orders left on it. So logically speaking that would work out to just under two years wait time if you were at the bottom of that list. The contact list has 148 orders on it at this time so logically speaking it would be about 1 1/2 years wait time if you were at the bottom of that list.
Unfortunately logic doesn't figure into it much. heh. The examples above assume there are no back outs (makes the wait shorter) and no deploying fighting men who want a knife (makes the wait list longer) and assumes I'll be able to keep a constant steady pace. Hope fully I will be able to but I don't know the future, illness, injury and other unforeseen things I don't want to think about are possible.
Also the wait list is all filled with official orders. Meaning each order represents one specific knife, that's fairly straight forward to calculate.
The contact list however is a different animal. It's a list I will work through in a less regimented style, since they aren't official orders (just a reminder to contact) I will be doing things I haven't had time to do while working on the wait list. Like making and testing new designs, maybe going to blade show, working on new gear prototypes and testing them etc. All while working though the contact list. Also, the contact list is fairly open ended. Meaning when a persons name comes up they can order up to four knives and whatever gear they want on their one spot. It is conceivable that one spot on the contact list could take me a couple weeks to complete. That however I'm sure will be the exception and not the norm. I expect that most of the spots will be for one knife or one piece of gear.
At this time the wait list is probably pretty close to about two years to the end, the contact list however is probably closer to 3 years to the end instead of the "logical" one and a half years.
I'm sure that's all clear as mud but hopefully it gives you some insight as to why I can't give you a realistic wait time on your order unless you're only a few spots from the top at the time. There are just too many variables and any time quote I'd give would be a total guess. I wish I could be more accurate because I know how frustrating it can be waiting on something you're really wanting. My sincere apologies, it's just not possible for me to do that. Thanks very much for your interest, I appreciate it greatly. *****

Thanks Iz for the update! Does the 4 months on the SERE knives mean we can expect approximately a 4 month wait in addition to our original dates?

It’s closer than it was yesterday since there won’t be another batch of SERE between the top and your order.

Keep on the sunny side, always on the sunny side……
