Default Handtools for trail work - Complete Documentary in one video

I loaded this free use video from the forest service to my channel. Most of you have seen it I am sure.

I reformatted it in its proper aspect ratio, and combined both parts to one complete video.

    Enjoy!

I'd name that 20lb sledge a lot of things people wouldn't want to hear!

We must be backwards out here. Not many tools in that video we don't use regularly.

I think the thing is Rocket that most people go fire up the chainsaw to cut any tree and use a tractor instead of a steel rod to move a rock. No doubt in my mind that many of these skills are being phased out in my generation by lots of people. Swinging an axe is a lot like any other labor skill. It's fun for a while, then it really becomes work, which is what folks always want to minimize.

I love watching videos like these. On one hand its peaceful and relaxing on the other hand it makes me anxious to go out and use my tools.

Not really the supplement to the video but I found this forest service manual on tools. Sorry if this is a re-post. I did a search but couldn't find it.

    Handtools for trailwork. http://www.fhwa.dot.gov/environment/...2810/index.htm

    in which are Handtools for...:

    Chopping: http://www.fhwa.dot.gov/environment/...olsforchopping

    Sharpening. http://www.fhwa.dot.gov/environment/...sforsharpening

    Rehandling: http://www.fhwa.dot.gov/environment/...sforrehandling

I would love to get my hands on the sharpening gauge pictured in the handtools for sharpening.
