    Default Ashley Book of Knots

    The Ashley Book of Knots is the "bible " of all knot tying , and it is out of print and hard to find. There is a PDF file, though, and it makes a great reference for those interested.

    The file is 107 MB, which is too large to upload here, so I have it located at the moment on the 4Shared site.

    <http://www.4shared.com/document/1-Cv..._of_Knots.html >

    Be aware it will be a long download, but it is worth it if you can get it.

    EDIT: At least one download showed a corrupted file. I have re-downloaded and the file was intact at my end, so the source file is good. The problem is that it may run 4-5 hours to download, and that increases the vulnerability to interruption or corruption of the download.

    Be sure to check, final download should be 104 MB. [107,000 KB]

    Nope, it was when I tracked down a copy 2-3 years ago, but maybe someone has reprinted it. That would be great news.

    If you have a link to the Amazon listing, post it here, so if any are interested, they can get a copy.

    You are right, Grey One, the ABOK is THE source for knots. Good of you to post this.

    It might be pricey, but it's quite a book. I stumbled across a copy at a used book store a few months back and had to snag it. That sucker's stinkin' big! It's fairly small print, tons of photos, and is roughly the dimensions of an individual encyclopedia book, except at least 2" thick!

    Best book ever. Everything you ever need to know in one one place! The marlinspike sailor is a good one as well, and is often seen as an easier starting point for beginners.
