HAHA! Doug do not take the intertubes so seriously there is never any point other than a good fight can be fun sometimes, but you will get nothing out of it, kiss your cute wife instead. As I told you I have favorited your fatwood swedish candle video and it is in my list and will never disappear now because that is how the intertubes work I was told that and it must be true. Now back to us all being really sad and tired, I have fire chain and natural shelter left and a couple more I am too scared to look.

Hahaha. That's a go, man. Nicely done. You demonstrated you know how to read a map and compass and not get lost, that's the whole point of the lesson so don't worry about not making it to your planned spot. You were smart to do only what you could and no more.
I don't know if you can get these over there but if you get a chance you should get some topo maps of your area that show contour lines. That way you'll be able to tell pretty accurately what is a cliff face and what you can or can't hike up. You did a great job with the map you had...especially since it was in Japanese! lol. Great job, man.
P.s. Glad you didn't die.
