I got one a few years ago at a second hand store for $5.
Looking at the links I had no idea they were that expensive.
If your still looking for one give me a call, I have one i would sell that is in very good condition. If its not the right size i have access to literally hundreds of them in my area and would be willing to pick one up for you. I live near a Navy base and the thrift stores are always full of them. I was also a MA my last few years in here in CT and i have many connections, we confiscate all uniform items of people getting other than honorable and lower discharges. There are literally rooms full of confiscated uniforms that get donated. I am certain I could find you, or anyone one if you wanted.
Let me know. kenneth.strayer@comcast.net
Hey i recently got out of the navy and have a pea coat in looking to sell. Are you still interested?
That made me laugh.Grandpa was never higher than E-3 or E-4 I think, but I could just hear him grumbling when I read the old chief and lifer bits.
I remember an old coat in one of their closets that matched the pictures of him aboard ship during Korea, not sure if it was a pea coat or a rain slicker. Grandma told me at the time one or another of the four kids would wear it if they needed it. Not sure what ever happened to that old coat, it disappeared some time after his funeral, either one of my aunts got it or it got donated. Oh well,it was a little tight in the shoulders anyway.
Thanks for the memory jog.
