Default how to tie your shoes and paracord laces so they don't come untied

Ever since my friend Paul Moore of Pmooreknives.webs.com (vendor) turned me on to this method, I've not tied my shoes the "old" way again! Here's the video I made:

And here's where Paul referred me to learn:

That is pretty dang clever, and it only adds one extra twist to what I already do to tie my shoes. Awesome, thanks for sharing.

This came up on the How You Tie Your Boots thread and I've been using the Ian's Secure Knot (same knot, but tied a little differently to ensure that it stays symmetrical) for a week or so. So far I'm happy with it, seems to stay tied better and it's not really any harder to tie, other than having to relearn something I've been doing since I was 3

I use paracord for almost all my shoes and I like this knot, I'll be using it from now on.

    Thanks,

ever since i started using paracord in my boots... since for some reason my dog likes to eat regular shoestrings.. this is the knot ive used its so simple and NEVER comes undone.. and you can really torque it down.. and to untie just pull on the tag ends and it unfolds.. Great knot

I guess I'm doing something wrong. I tie mine just like normal except I tuck the extra in the top of my boot. But that's just because I don't like snakes hanging out.
Does it slip on you guys with just a regular knot?

Depends on the boot and the laces I think. I have a couple pairs of boots that both like to come untied fairly frequently. So far the Ian's Secure Knot has been working a lot better than a standard knot for the Le Chameau boots I own, the one time I thought it did come untied, I looked down and the knot was still intact after all. The lace had actually just come loose from the speed lacing hooks. I was able to pull hard on it and hook it back around the speed lacers and it stayed tied the rest of the day.
