Default BCUSA Collaboration and Auction Thread!

Yep - The circus is in town folks! There has been so much talk about the great work that members collaborate on here, for example, 556MP makes a knife and Ratty1 makes the sheath. There have been some amazing examples of these joint efforts and we want to take advantage of it! Site management has blessed the concept of a member collaboration auction! Upthecreek and I will be managing this endeavor and here is the concept:

    1. Interested members and vendors will reach out to eachother and develop an idea for a knife, tool, pouch, artwork, etc. where more than one member applies their skills to the project. As an example, my daughters and I will make a knife blade, ask Aven to finish the grips and than send it to Growling Bear to finish the blade and make a sheath (BTW - I haven't talked to these folks yet, but you get the idea...).

    2. Once you have a sense of what you want to do, post up thread indicating your intent. Upthecreek will track the collaborations. Ideally projects will be completed by the end of June...

    3. Once you finish your project, post up pics and indicate that you are donating it to our auction. We will auction off the items as they are completed and the proceeds will be given to BCUSA. At the discretion of site management, a portion of the proceeds will be used to create a "Campfire Fund", a pool of money that mods can distribute to good causes or members with legitimate needs.

Also, if you have collaboration item in your posession, feel free to post them here just to show them off!

Upthecreek and I will be winging this a little so be patient with us. Let's go!

OK - Like Mike said I'll be tracking and coordinating the collbaborations. If you have a collaboration that you have put together with a member(s), post up your intent in this thread or PM me. Please say who is involved and what you want to make. I'll track the collaborations here and try to keep the list up to date. If you want to be involved but don't have a partner, reach out and tells us what your skill is and try to keep a list of folks seeking a fellow collaborator.

knife - needham gals, 1Jesster, Growling Bear,

axe - upthecreek, mneedham, Malcolm C

Cool Idea, glad that it went through. I'd be down once I get caught up with making for who I've got to make for, unless I can slip something in sooner. Good on you fellas.

Thank you for using Ratty and myself as an example.

I don't mean to be presumptuous here, but I'd be happy to make a leather accoutrement as one end of a collaborative effort. I'm always looking for a new project these days, and this would be a good opportunity to give something back.

    Take care,
    Malcolm

Thanks Malcolm, I'll be in touch. mneedham and I are going to put a small hatchet up for sale that could use a little leather love.

Matt - you are partially to blame for the concept, when you gifted that little blade and ratty offered to make a sheath for it, the concept got some life...

Here are to 2 collabs, a knife that we made with a Growling bear sheath and the blade that you made:

I not the best you have ever seen but I do a fair job of tacking slabs on a knife. If anyone is interested I'll be glad to play.

Jesster - No standard for skills in this deal! Me and my 8 YOs are going to put something up!

I think we'll have some prizes for a couple of categories too, e.g. overall best, most unique, etc...
