Just got back from a 5 day canoe trip. Made up some high energy food before heading out. It's a very simple recipe of cocout butter, chopped nuts, and dried fruit. I mixed pecans and dried apples. Very tasty, filling, and loaded with calories. Simply melt a whole jar, or whatever amount you wish, in a pot of water. Just set the jar in the water. Be careful as any high temp causes the butter to turn brown. Don't use a microwave or stove top. Actually just setting the stuff in the sun works best. At any rate melt the coconut butter and add whatever you wish. I poured the mixture in a muffin pan then walked away and let it cool. It has a good taste which is also a plus. You may want to add dried, crushed meat making a pseudo pemmican protein fat bar.
