Recipes for Dogs With Cancer
Mix together 1 -scrambled egg
1/2 -cup of steamed broccoli
1/2- cup of cooked yellow squash
4 oz. -of low-fat yogurt or cottage cheese.
Mix in a large bowl: 1 -can salmon
1- hard-boiled egg
1/2- cup of chopped spinach or cabbage
1/2 -cup of carrots
4 oz.- of low-fat cottage cheese
for both Recipe #1 AND Recipe #2
Then add meat to the mixture. You may add 1 pound of ground beef or 1 pound of chopped chicken. This recipe will make 2 servings for a 50-pound dog or one serving for a 100-pound dog. Dogs with cancer benefit most from raw meats and vegetables because these foods have more nutrients than processed dog foods. Other vegetable options are zucchini, kale, yams, potatoes and cauliflower. Salmon oil or cod liver oil may be added. These are high in omega 3 vitamins, which are vital if your pet is sick. Any kind of meats can be used including chicken livers, pork, steak, turkey and lamb. Eggs and low-fat dairy are excellent additions to any dog food recipe because they supply protein and vitamin D.Treats
Give your dog special treats such as chunks of cheese, beef jerky and hard-boiled eggs. Also chunks of steak or other meats can make a good treat anytime. You can make small balls of rice with chopped vegetables and meat for a quick snack, as well.
Dogs with cancer need to get essential nutrients such as CO-Q10 and omega 3 fatty acids. Other important minerals such as selenium and magnesium may be given in nutritional supplements or liquid vitamins. Essiac tea is also good for dogs with cancer. Give this to your dog twice a day, once in the morning and once again in the evening.
