Default $20 a good price for an ALICE pack?

It does not have shoulder straps. I wouldnt use them if they did. I usually do the MOLLE II conversion. But for the pack and frame is it worth it?

I would say it is a good buy. I paid $25 for mine, and ended up changing the straps out so no lose there.

what a coincidence I saw some alice packs for sale in our local thrift store for the same price. but I didnt get one. My alice pack cost me 30 dollars and another 15 for the frame not the best deal in the world. 20 dollars sounds good to me.

Gotcha, was going to tell you if you don't mind the drive, there is army surplus in ft Walton beach on beal street. Great deals on med and large packs, and they have huge boxes of them to dig through and pick one you like. Same with straps, in boxes pick ones you like. Med w/straps shoulder & kidney including frame $30, pretty sure large xtra $5-10. I got a med from them a few weeks ago practically brand new. Took it when i hiked eglin Sunday, loved it. Store in P'cola way to expensive and packs pretty beat up, store in panama city a joke, they strip shoulder pads off packs and sell them for $10 to $15 APIECE! And med packs ate $40 no frame. They acted offended when I told them what I thought about that.
