This is the prototype . I prefer to just coat it in vegetable oil so it seasons with use



You can fold it flat



or take it to bits (3 bolts) - Don't worry the legs and sides that join are marked with the same number of dots (either 1, 2 or 3) - It will have new bolts. I just had these to hand



and it weighs in at..................about 550grams (1lb 1/4 in old money) and its not even titanium



though it has a 17cm side length

I can add 2 cross bars but it adds to the length obviously

What a great idea. I gotta give that a try, I've been lookingnfir somethng like this to accompany my coke can stove. I was looking for a way to use curtain rod holders in a similar fashion.

Been thinking along similar lines myself recently.
I was toying with a rectangular idea made from similar base material (flat 1/8" x 1/2" wide strap) with a frame that 'slots' together & then also has legs that slot in to support it. The side rails I was thinking of also cutting some smaller slots in to allow stainless rods to be placed for grilling upon.
The idea was that the whole contraption could be easilly assembled/disassembled via that 'slotting' arrangement so it could be easilly storred in a leather pouch/roll. Just pull the vairous pieces of flat strap & grill rods out of the pouch & 'slot' the lot together.

Hmmm, have to look into that one soon I think.

This was my project for bush basic improvised metal cooking impliment. I will have to file down the edges some more, but I think it will work pretty well. Each arm measures 8" and the legs are 4". I made it all out of one piece of 1 1/4" x 1 1/4" angle steel. I like WK's idea about seasoning it with veggie oil. I used 3/4" hex bolts with a 1/4" shank, double flat washers and a lock behind the wingnut. 7 bolts total.
