Camping in Central/Northern Indiana..
Anyone have any suggestions for some good parks or forests in Central/Northern Indiana that would be good for a 4-5 mile back country camping trip?
Very familiar with Southern Indiana and Kentucky but don't have much experience in the Central or Northern part of the state? Only thing I've really found is the Lake Monroe area..
Any help or suggestions are appreciated.. I want to disappear for a few days!

"The Shades" and "Turkey Run" state parks along Sugar Creek are both pretty nice places to explore. They used to have some primitive campsites as well as the more modern ones, but I haven't been over there is quite a while.

camping in northern Indiana
I live in NW Indiana and its been tough to find public land that allows primitive camping with alit of acreage to hike. The dunes natl lakeshore has restrictions against camping and fires, I also would welcome any suggestions on this thread

Just getting ready to leave for Salamonie get together. They let us camp and have fires. Its about 30 minutes east of Peru. We'll be there till Sunday. Here's a link that has some maps and a link to a google map for if you have a smart phone.http://bushcraftusa.com/forum/showth...Jan-12-th-2013
