Thanks, fellas. I think I'm close to having this pack where I want it function and design wise. I've got an o.d. green one done now that's the second generation if you want to call it that. One more generation and I hope to have it right where I want it.

Since the Eagle Becker is no longer made, I think a production model McKinney would be a really great pack.

Yeah, I sewed up another prototype that incorporates a few changes. Mainly longer side pocket that you can fit a nalgene or guyout into and the pockets have cinch straps on them too.
I'm still not totally happy with it though. I've been carrying it and I figure I need to change how the lid is attached and how the straps are attached. I have them too high right now and the risers don't work well.
