+1 for harmless Brown snake. All venomous snakes in NA, with the exception of coral snakes, have wedge shaped heads.

No such thing as a poisonous snake, now a venomous snake is a different story. Poison is ingested, venom is injected into the bloodstream. Its a harmless brown snake that plays a significant role in our ecosystem by keeping the rodent population in check.
