Axe Carriers,Slings and other carry options -pics please

l i have a new winter axe on the way and would like to carry it off my pack as its a bigboy and don't want the pack to pull.i'm thinking some sort of sling or rig of sorts but am not finding anything too exciting so if you guys have any pics of your rigs or carry systems i would love to see them

Baldric style seems simple enough. I never did it with an axe, but the concept is sound.

I agree. For something as large as an axe would definitely look into a baldric rig.

Not sure exactly what you're looking for (is this for carrying while also carrying a pack? or while in camp looking for firewood when the pack's off). SuspectDevice made me a cool belt loop that can carry an axe, I like it for collecting wood since you can drop a piece of dead standing wood or buck a log, then stick the axe on your belt loop to keep it out of the way without leaving it behind or losing it.

If you're going to carry on the pack, I'd suggest anything that can get the weight centered instead of along one side of the pack, and preferably closer to your body. Depends on what pack you have how to rig it, but maybe something like one of Iz's axe carriers would work for you.

For an axe-specific carrier I really liked the looks of the Woodlore Folding Buck Saw case, though I never did buy one. Just a cool design for carrying an axe and/or saw:

Here's a link to a post I did for an upsidedown pouch sheath. This one was ugly but you'll get the concept of it. It works very good and you can easily make it to hold about any size axe you want.

I made myself quite a few axe rigs. One was like that Ray Mears just a few posts up, but mine was worn like a pack, with two straps. I am also currently working on a leather bandoleer style set up for my hawks. It rides like a haversack or messenger bag does, but because of the hard thick leather strap, even with a two pound hawk attached, I barely feel it on.

Once it's all done I will post pics.

For some reason I can't find it for sale on their website but it is their design.
I like the look of it but the problem is you would have to wear it under a backpack and you wouldn't be able to deploy it very easily. Also I'm not sure how comfortable it would be sandwiched between a heavy pack and your back.
