I have read the wonder of knife making second edition and it is on my have to buy list, full of information and easy to understand. I have not read the other book.

I would check your local library system and see if they have either of them and then read them before you buy them

We will hopefully have the Downloads Ebook archive back up soon, and it has a number of works on blacksmithing, many now out of print.
Keep your eyes peeled , when it gets ready we will make an announcement.

I know nothing of the books you have mentioned. However when I started a long time ago the best Blacksmith books on the market were "Practical Blacksmithing" by MT Richardson in 4 volumes. I purchased a copy back then and still have them. If you go to Google Books they have the set as a PDF download for free. I still like mine and they are very complete as far as blacksmith information is concerned. If there is a better book out there I wish someone would tell me, but I doubt there really is. If memory serves the first volume was done in 1887 and they were completed in 1892. I could be a year or so off either way.
Where is the fun in buying something when you can make it.

I found "The Backyard Blacksmith" by Lorelei Sims in Ollie's Surplus Outlet for $7.95. Tractor Supply had it for $24.99
