What pants do you wear?
Thinking I should ditch the jeans. Don't want to spend more than $40 or so.
Suggestions on a 3 season pant?

I like my carhartt ripstop cargo pants, you van find them on sale for around $40, they take some serious abuse and are very comfortable in my opinion.

I really like the Centennial Canvas poly/cotton blend convertable pants from scout stuff
http://www.scoutstuff.org/bsa/unifor...ic-canvas.html
They have plenty of pocket room and have a zipper & flap pocket that is perfect for small stuff. They also zip off for shorts. Plenty durable too.
I like the BDU.com Propper bdu's as well, they are around the same price.

Dry weather shell = Propper ripstop cotton BDUs
Wet weather shell = milspec/ECWCS gore-tex trousers
Summer = convertible nylon or polyester cargo pants (with zip-off legs). These will work in wet, warm weather because they don't retain water and dry quickly, but aren't waterproof. You could use them as a 4 season dry weather shell. Just use base and/or insulating layers underneath them.

Personally I like jeans. I know the old "cotton kills" thing, but if your careful it's not a problem and if it's cold then long underwear will treat you well. That being said, that wasn't really your question so I was no help. I have heard good things about BDU's, and for winter use try wool surplus pants. I'm sure you could find both of those types of pants in your price range.

I'm up on the railrider Versatec mid weight too. A little pricey but they last forever. Just got a pair of basspro fleece lined jeans on sale for $29 too. Summertime. Versatec light pants. 511 has done great ones. I would look on eBay. Some great deals there.

I usually wear my older ACU bottoms or propper multicam pants. And depending on weather I might wear my Frogg Togg rain pants for outerwear to stay dry!
