This is getting a few hour extension because I'm running around like a chicken with it's head cut off (as usual) and don't have time, will put up the poll this evening my time.

I almost entered with household chemical fire but I didn't want to be liable for anyone doing this and dying from the fumes (that and I didn't want to maybe die from the fumes) and I had to weigh out all the liability issues. Other than that I couldn't think of a creative way to make fire. Well, not safely that is. Great videos everyone!

video started out around 7.5 minutes, so I sped it up in spots to get it under 3 minutes.

Including set-up time, that was enough time in the rain for me, if I didn't let it get big enough say so, it won't hurt my feelings.
Hahaha. I'd say you fulfilled the requirement to be creative! Good stuff, man.

I see I am too late to be an entry, but can I upload my video anyway for fun?

I shot it Tue night, but it took some time to edit.

It was a learning experience for me.

What I thought I'd do is try to start a fire from something I may commonly have on hand. One of my hobbies is metal detecting, so I often have my detector (with 9V batteries in it) and headphones. In this case, I decided to try to light a fire with these objects.

I failed to start an actual fire. Got a flash and a puff of smoke 2X (one of which I caught on cam), and then I think my battery died.

It's good to know, you don't get many chances in this situation, so having a plan B is a good idea. I ended up using the firesteel to start it since I had done all the prep.

Very cool guys and yeah the more vids the merrier no worries. Late though as you know, once I put up the poll I can't edit it even if I wanted to so watch out for the next contest for sure. Loved them both personally.

Get out the vote bump. I'm superstitious and it being stuck at 13 has been driving me nuts haha.

Starting a fire to win a prize isn't always easy but when all is said and done sometimes you just have to laugh at yourself and dig deeper.
    Sweet, sweet victory : )

    1. I never thought of taking apart my binoculars in a pinch!

    2. Kids don't need clothes, they need costumes. That was too cool.
