    Default New Axe Handle Install

I finally need to replace the handle on my 'ole TrueTemper Double Bit.
I purchased an excellent hand-made straight grain hickory handle with a wood wedge and steel stake wedges.
The stock handle lasted over 25 years of seasonal use; but finally broke at the head.
I haven't done a handle install before on a Double Bit; so I am looking for some suggestions for the best possible fit and long-term function.
I intend on soaking the handle in Linseed Oil after fitting. My question(s) is; is this done prior to or after I stake the steel wedges in place for final fitting ?
Please help me resurrect my favorite axe.

If done properly you should not need the steel wedge. Here is a great video in the bushclass section on proper hafting of an axe. Should be same for double bit as well

The video was done very well; so kudos to SkogKniv on that one.
I think I would confidently tackle the job at hand after watching the lesson.
