Not sure how much of that translates to wilderness survival in the Alaskan, Canadian or most US wilderness regions. I like the idea of learning survival techniques from the show. Let's see him start a fire in the Florida swamps, Louisiana bayou or the wet forests of the Pacific Northwest.

I'll keep watching, and give him the benefit of doubt, but am disappointed so far.
I agree. The guy has all my respect for what he did for the military, but he's a trained killer, not a trained woodsman. Don't know if the decisions he's made on the show have actually been his or prompted by the producers.

I found the premise of the Hawai'i episode a tad ridiculous and the phobia of wild pigs blown way out of proportion.
No, there are no warthogs in Hawai'i except at the Honolulu Zoo. Very poor editing on the show's part.
No, there are no mountainous deserted uninhabited islands with wild pigs and flowing streams in Hawai'i. Small offshore islets we call mokus, and the Northwest Hawaiian islands which are mostly sandy atolls with no naturally occurring freshwater are the only uninhabited islands in the chain. These are all wildlife refuges.
Why would a spear chucking pig hunter be on such a mythical island to begin with. A more realistic scenario would have been a shipwreck on one of the isolated valleys on the north coast of Moloka'i. Definitely not as bad as Bear Gyrills' Hawai'i adventure but still an impossible scenario for Hawai'i.
I must admit the char-cloth making, and bamboo boiling scenes would be educational for the neophytes in the audience. I find it fun to watch though not really educational as a whole for me. Bush Tucker Man, and Ray Mears still my favorites, with Les Stroud coming in at 3rd.

    Default Season of Drama

I too find the third season to be full of unnecessary drama. I think Dave summed it up best in the first season when he said something to the effect of "Cody tries to exist with nature, and we were taught it's a fight and you have to conquer nature." That showed the difference and doesn't need to be repeated every 5 minutes on the show.
