Bow delamination?

So I have a chance to pick up a Bear Super Kodiak for 70$. It supposedly has some scratches and some delamination. My question is is this something I can fix? Or should I just stay away? It's a really good deal and the pics don't seem to be to bad.
Opinions?

This bow is a bit rough, it has some scratches, from delamination, and some fading of the paint. The only date I can find on this bow is 1953 on the patent information. The numbers 721608 60" 41# are written on it under the clear coat.

i've got an old bear with one spot of delam. i'll be interested, too, in this thread.

Have you checked to see if it's twisted? That's one of the main things to watch out for. The best way I know of to check for that is to string it and see if the string lays perfectly straight from tip to tip. And shoot it a few times and see if the string stays put in the grooves near the tips. If it's badly twisted you can just sight down it, unstrung, from one tip to the other and see it.

And just how bad is the delamination? I couldn't tell from your pics. I shoot some old recurves that were made in the '60's. They are pretty beat up, with chips and scratches galore. But they shoot well and have held up just fine.

If you can return it after you buy it and see it's condition, I think $70 would be ok.

De-lam bows are not a good buy. Great old bow if sound. Value ? like it is,I would stay away from it.

That the thing, it's on a forum so I'm not able to actually check it out in person. I was not able to tell how bad the delamination is from the pics either.
I sent him back a message with questions about it so we will see.
I had a Bear Montana long bow that I sold and I regret it now I am wanting to get another now and ame accross this.
