Hi, new here, but really liking your stuff!
I like small knives, so I toss my hat into the "patch knife" pile.![]()
Definately 52100 steel 1/8" nesmuck...don't know if thats a choice but for skinning, fleshing etc..will do great.
This is the first thing that popped into my mind as well. Something like the tiny French knife found on Track of the Wolf, but I would like it with a 2.8-2.9' blade with a 2 1/2- 2 3/4" edge and about 6" overall with 1/16" steel, but I like small fixed blades though. This is about the same specs as my CS mini hunter, but I think this patch knife would be a better slicer.
A 3/32" Nessmuk with lots of belly is about as good as it gets for a fieldcraft knife IMO! Some people don't care for the looks, but they function as well as anything I've tried. No Scandi grinds on a Nessmuk though, they are made for slicing, skinning, some wood work, general camp/kitchen chores, etc.

Definitely go for the Hudson Bay type knife, but in 1/8 A2steel. I also would like to see a rifleman's long knife in 3/32 steel in a 6-8 inch blade, but make the profile about 1 3/4 wide to add a little weight but keep the thinness too to be a good camp slicer/kitchen knife. Maybe out of L6 or 52000.
+1 on the hook knife
A trade knife type for the 18th century guys. I like the Rifleman knife you did. I'd like a straight tang to put antler scales on.
