Thanks for the show. I have the 16 and feel the same way. Great knife.
I wanted to get a tweener and have quite a few drop point knifes, so tried the BK17. I like that it sharpens up to a good edge pretty easily. Visually it strikes me as a smaller handier USMC Kabar. I am very happy with it.
I have lots of drop points and clip points, so I tried the upswept point. It's usually not my style, but I like the ergonomics of the handle, it lets me get closer to the cutting than the other 2, or so it seems. How did you like using it for fine work, were you able to choke up on it enough to be comfortable?
Great review. Been looking at the 16 vs 17 for awhile now and this review is a ringing endorsement for the 17. So many choices. I know, I know, get them both. Maybe in time.
Anybody think the saber grind on the 17
allowed it to survive being in IA's handsmakes it a studier knife as opposed to the flat grind on the 16? I have never been back and forth on two knives more in my life. I need help.
Thanks for putting that knife through its paces for us IA. Can't wait for more vids.
I much prefer sabre grinds. I think they are tougher (and look better too). Just an FYI there are BK16s out there in a sabre grinds. I think SMKWs had some last I checked.
