    Default (I) Bushclass outings. 1-3

I haven't been on the ball posting my intermediate Bushclass outings. I'm gonna post pics of 1 and two and the video for #3 here. I'm editing #4 now, I'll post it when I get it done. My cameras kept freezing up and shutting down at will, so it is a nightmare.

    Outing 1.
An overnight with my wife Amanda, The Professor, and Bushbumming29 out at Bushbumming's spot. We all did shelter halves with natural insulation beds. Amanda and I shared a half, she got pretty cold but I was closer to the fire so I could wake up and throw wood on during the night, so I stayed fairly warm. It got down below freezing, there was ice in The Professor's pot when we woke up. We had a nice breakfast, (pancakes, bacon, sausage and oatmeal) and filmed Amanda doing a bow drill fire for one of her college projects. As always, we had a great time camping with Bushbumming and The Professor, thanks to them for letting us tag along.

This was the start of our bed, we used two or three times the amount of leaves shown here

This is the video of Amanda's bow drill fire, I got the campfire going the day before with the same basswood set. She did a great job, I'm lucky that she enjoys doing this stuff along with me.

    Default Outing 2

Outing 2 was an overnight at The Professor's farm. My wife did and The Professor did shelter halves, and I did my improvised shelter. The Professor and I also did the smoked jerky elective. As usual, we ate well, and enjoyed each others stories (some of which may have been true)

Amanda's setup, She did awesome setting up her shelter half, and making her bed. She was smart and used an old down comforter rolled up in her tarp.

The Professor set up in some Cedar trees about 50 yards away.

This is a vid from The Professor's channel. It mostly covers the jerky lesson, but has some clips of the camp in it too.

Good stuff, Kevin! Thanks for the photos. I had misplaced the photo of my camp in the cedars, so I am glad you posted that one, too! Even when we had the big storm, there was very little snow that blew under those trees.

I'm looking forward to the next one! Your ramen-chicken and carrot soup has become a tradition; Mary Ann liked it so much that she made a big pot of it between Christmas and New Year's. She calls it "Kevin's soup!"
    ...and I'll see you soon!

Aw man. I feel so guilty with being slack on my "I" bush lessons. You guys are shaming me into getting a move on.
