Well I'll have a nice cold drink for all y'all as I sit in my hammock in the blistering cold Texas winter, supposed to be 80 today.

It has been getting zero-ish at night, which is pretty cold for here. My damn furnace won't keep up, and my house temp has been running a good 5 degrees colder than the thermostat setting.

We have hot water radiant floor heat which is normally nice, but slow to respond to these sort of cold snaps. I'm afraid to crank up the water temp setting for fear of damaging the floors.

I'd be better off in a yurt with a woodstove...

We had -48 degrees below 0 (F) here at the homestead yesterday and it was +26 degrees in the bed room, night before last.
We live on a little knoll, so were warmer than a lot of other folks who were experiencing -50 to -60 degrees.
Much warmer today at a balmy -16 degrees but the wind is hitting 50mph.
    Best Wishes
