What's the most money you've spent on a blade?

In 1982 I paid $140 for a Randall Model 14. That's a bit over $300 in today's dollars. I was overjoyed to get it, but soon learned it really wasn't all that good and eventually sold it off to cover another purchase. So far that has been the single most expensive knife expense I've ever made.

I have little doubt that some day I'll top that, perhaps some day soon. Compared to a firearm purchase three hundred bucks really isn't all that much and I've seen any number of working blades by custom makers that are priced well over $300 and worth the asking price.

As some sort of clarification, i use knives on a daily basis for eating, food prep, opening boxes etc.
But i'm not really into collecting knives or anything like that.

I do have a thing for well crafted things though, be that a hand formed and welded intercooler for my car, or a handmade knife from a true craftsman.

So it's not really the knife that i was after, more the craftsmanship if that makes any sense.

I paid over $150 dollars for this Bark River "Fox River" when they first came out. It used to say "First Production Run" on the blade. It is incredibly sharp and I use it a lot.

$200 for a handmade kukri-esques piece with a gemsbok horn handle. No practical reason for it but it was at Gulf Wars XXI and made by a guy I like. Of all the pieces in his tent it was the one that kept calling me back.
