The chestnut ridge knife shop has Ontario SP8's on sale for 39.99 at the moment. Its an excellent chopper with a 1/4 inch 1095 blade.

    Thanks Bill

Condor Hudson Bay is a great chopper. Get it from Baryonyx, you won't regret it.

I acquired a kukri at a garage sale for 10 bucks. It didn't have a sheath. I grinded and re-shaped the blade to be more of a tonto look.. Also grinded down the handle and wrapped it. It is the kind from Nepal. Well I zombified it for my son for x-mas.. It chops all that cross it Get creative!

Thanks guys! I'm currently deciding between the Kumunga and a Condor Kukri.

If it helps you make your decision, the Kumunga is more "chopping knife" while the Kukri Machete is more straight-up "chopper."

You can snapcut with it by only gripping the back end of the handle, sort of like a leuku, but its still not going to be a good dedicated chopper.

If you want a Becker, the BK-4 is suposed to be a great chopper, the BK-7 an BK-9 are suposed to be decent too.
I prefer the BK9 to the current version of the BK4.

Kumunga is a good knife for the price, so is their Hudson Bay.
Condor Kukri Machete is a good chopper, too - but keep in mind, it's still a machete, so it's pretty thin stock.
If you are willing to stretch your price margin out just a little, the Condor Pack Golok is a blast to use.

Stay away from those cheap military kukris on ebay with the 5 holes in the blade they are way to thin the handle is cheap plastic and they vibrate like a mofo when chopping and it really hurts your hand. All other suggestions I would say a good to go. This is only a recomendation not to get this specific made in china POS. Not a slam against the well made kukris sugested. Be sure to post a pic of your new aquisition.
