I had one of the Ontario Spec Plus Marine Raider Bowies that I really liked but it got stolen out of my pickup.
They take a good edge, and they are BIG. I have small hands, and it felt fine. Now I have a BK9, much nicer knife.
The Ontario is reasonably priced, about $65 or so but its backordered on SMKW's website

I'm going to buck the trend here and suggest a really nice pocket knife. Something you could carry with you every day. Something by Great Eastern Cutlery, Queen, etc.

live in eastern ky had to drive to Atlanta Ga for Ford training on wednesday couldnt bear to drive right by smkw without stopping in... dang what torture they got it all and i do mean all of it. Needed a solid multitool settled on a leatherman surge in black and the bit kit to go with it and a new belt, got out for 130.00 before I did serious damage to my psyche and my wallet. Good luck on your upcoming self inflicted torture.

You will find that they have knives that are not listed on net. They had all the Beckers when I stop by. Also I got a wettlings small camp axe for less than price listed on net. good luck and happy Anniversary

Every time I go to smkw I end up getting a few more knives. I have the Entrek forester and like it. I saw that smkw has the javalina for $106. That would be the one I would pick up if it is in stock when you go.

Bk2,BK7,BK16 or BK17. In my humble opinion the Beckers are the absolute best bang for the buck out there.

I was going to suggest the bk7 as well, the scales are a preference thing. I'm personally looking to pick them up at a later date.

I just got this from stillman. Esse 4 I love this knife. Holds a great edge, he convexed it and ground out the finger choil so it'd be safer to use. I got it used including sheath for $65. May wanna think about picking up something used. Esee has lifetime no questions asked warranty. I plan on trying to break this thing (normal use not chopping bricks or anything stupid).
