Simple, but meaningful 100 post giveaway!

Well, I have reached 100 posts before a full year has even passed! As per the tradition around here, I have decided to offer a giveaway. I want to say a big thank you to all the awesome people out there on the forums! There is a camaraderie here seen seldom elsewhere!

Upon thinking of all of the things I could post here I started to reflect….
I thought about how I found this wonderful community, and what “Bushcraft” really means to me. The general consensus is that Bushcraft is the practical knowledge and application of primitive skills and self-reliance in nature. To me, I think it is deeper than that. I was initially drawn to this craft as “something cool to do with sticks!, knives, flint, etc.” but as I spent many evenings browsing the countless hours of work and effort people put on this site, days outdoors, hours over the backyard fire pit, I've learned a few things more:

• I’ve learned more observation to my surroundings; the woods around me have much more things to tell me if I take the time to see and listen.
• I’ve learned that knowledge only works if it is applied with practice!
• I’ve learned patience when trying to craft a wood spoon, or make the perfect tinder bundle.
• I’ve learned humility when I realized I couldn’t safely pull off an overnighter with the tools or skills I had at the time.
• I’ve learned the appreciation of the hard work needed to gain an ember from a fire plow.
• I’ve learned to always make a sincere effort to learn the most of what I can from people here with an open mind, with the tools I have.
• Most importantly, I’ve gained more respect and appreciation of how important self-reliance with mother nature truly is.

I enjoy Bushcraft because it provides a complex mix of appreciation of nature, sense of community, and joy of learning.

I’ve come to the conclusion that every single person here started from somewhere, and I started Bushcraft with just a pocket knife and a used magnesium bar. I want to give these tools away to someone who will use them, or give these to someone else just starting out!

These items aren’t fancy, but they hold meaning for me.
The pocket knife is a Schrade Old Timer (Made in U.S.A) that was my very first knife, since I was 13 years old. It served me well, but I think it could use a good home with someone new.
The mag bar was a hand-me-down from an uncle who thought he no longer needed it after getting a fancy torch lighter! I’ve started many fires with this, but since graduated to firesteel and tinder-bundles. This mag-bar has helped me realize there is more fun and satisfaction building a fire with items other than a disposable Bic lighter.

The giveaway is simple: A simple “I’m in” from those who will use them, or give them to someone who will. I trust the honor system. Since there is an edged blade involved, I must ask that participants be 18+ and reside in the USA.
I will pick a number from a random number generator on 1/31/13 and PM the winner.

I've been looking for one of these old timers for quite a while now. They seem scarce in my area, but my grandfather carried nothing but the old timer knives, as did my father and I also carried one for years until it was lost in a boating accident. I have yet to find a good replacement because the ones for sale now just dont measure up to the older ones.
