Default Looking for some leather for a sheath

I am looking to make a knife sheath for a Drifter I have on order from MP Knives. I have made a few sheaths in the past, and they turned out pretty good, so want to do another...problem is, Tandy Leather moved out of my town, so I don't have a local place to get small pieces of leather. I don't want to order like 15 sq ft, and they don't have small pieces of the heavier weight leather. Anyone have a smaller piece, maybe 4 or 5 sq ft of 9 or 10 oz leather they would be willing to sell so I can make me a sheath?

I've gotten great deals on 6-7 & 8-9oz leather. 6+ sq ft for about $50 shipped. Just look around their site and write down the order# and call the # on the page. Great folks to do bidness with.

do you have a local saddle maker? i just bought 4-5 sq. ft. for $20 from an old dude that my mom has been doing business with for years. he usually gives me his scrap pieces. i also get buckles, d-rings and other parts from him very cheap.

When I just need a little bit and I am looking to get whatever done with minimal searching and effort for materials, I usually order one or two of these: http://www.texasknife.com/vcom/produ...oducts_id=2547

Shipping's a touch high but the leather's good and I've never had an issue with them. Hope it helps. Later,

I am very satisfied with my purchase from The Leather Guy.

    Also, check out: http://www.brettunsvillage.com/leather/scrap/scraps.htm

They have lots of scrap, and their Large Tannery Swatches look useful to me. Not sure if they are chrome tanned or not.

Thanks for the info guys. I am gonna go ahead and get a bigger piece from Tandy for now, but keep an eye on theleatherguy website also. Figured I would make a few axe masks also that I have been putting off.

you could try goodwill, or yard sales. buy an old pair of boots and use the leather.
