My first attemp at making a haversack

Was thinking this weekend that I wanted to make a haversack to keep in my backpack in case I wanted to go do a little hiking or scrounging without having to take my whole bag with me. This is my first attempt, still deciding on whether or not to put some type of closure on it. It is made out of some canvas we had around the house.

Haversacks are a versatile piece of gear. I like the one you made! If you use it, it won't retain the bright white look for long! I like one to carry lunch or other day hike necessities. With my haversack and my canteen kit, I am set with food, water, tools and comfort supplies.

Even on overnight trips, it is nice to take an extra haversack rolled up and stashed in a corner of a pack. It is a handy thing to grab for foraging tinder, small kindling, pieces of flint from the creek or other curious stuff I pick up away from base camp.

It's a handy item to carry behind the seat of the pick-up, too. Sometimes I stop along the road and pick cat tails or other scrounged items that blow out of people's vehicles.

It's a great item to grab when we walk around town as well. I often come home with a half gallon of milk, or a box of crackers, or a can of soup from the convenience store. Roll it up and put it back in my jacket pocket and it's ready for the next trip!

Nice job. A little step by step would be welcome. i bought a canvas painters drop cloth last year to make one but haven't got around to it yet.
