bummer...don't forget it doesn't have to be huge on the diameter. big enough to hold your pan though. and you are right it needs to be dry to do a good job.

good deal...it doesn't take too long but finding the log and setting some time aside can be a little hard

edited this post and put a better example up. makes sense you wouldn't possibly find a larger diameter piece so this one is fairly small and would be more readily available. anyway not much better time but better showing of how things can work. started a fire not only inside but on top I think will help like this one. excellent tinder inside with larger stuff to maintain the fire once going.

edited the last post and put a better vid to show a smaller piece. more practical. Just shows you don't need a huge piece. I bound the top and bottom and held it steady with rocks as well. out in the wild you would be able to do this or something similiar. time was better than my first but beyond this contest time is not paramount as much as getting a good stove going and maintaining it. this one went for a long time.

no, except no torches or the like...matches, lighters, firesteel, etc are fine.

Default Is this contest still live?

Is the 3/15 deadline still in effect and do you have enough submissions for the contest yet?

don't have enough submissions yet and we can extend the deadline no problem so if enough people just need more time that would be fine.
