March 2013 Contest: The First Signs of Spring

Annndddd Spring has Sprung! This was a great one guys thank you to everybody who entered, commented, or even watched along! I made this one multiple choice just to see how that goes, so if there are two you can't decide between just pick them all. There will be no March contest as I am very busy right now and I need to rethink how we decide these. We got 22 entries this time and the limit is 30 for a poll. LET THE VOTING BEGIN!!



This idea I came up with myself with my wives direction on the last one that making it current to the season or holidays around the time makes it more fun. Guess what officially starts March 20th people? Spring! All of the seasons have their splendors but the birth of Spring is special and the Earth is waking back up and being reborn. What I want you to do is capture the first signs of it wherever you are.* I want you to do it in either 1 picture or 1 video that is 1 minute or less. I think the brevity of it is a part of showing things being reborn as they grow up so big so fast.

The dates for the submissions are from now until 3/25/2013.

This like all of our contests will be decided by voting from 3/25/2013 until 3/31/2013. I will change this thread to a poll with each user who entered's name at some point on my 26th (late in the US night.)


Rules
One picture or one video that is one minute or less
Show the change of seasons in your area however you feel best
These must be NEW submissions something shot this year, this season
*Southern hemisphere people are more than welcome to show the end of summer and the start of Fall


The Prize
I hemmed and hawed on prizes on this one. I have decided to give away some more saws this time as they are proving to be very popular. Your choice of a Pocketboy 130mm, a Pocketboy 170mm, or a Gomboy 210mm with any size teeth your prefer. The ones we have listed on our site are large teeth for the Pocketboys, and normal and large teeth for the Gomboy 210s. But really I am very flexible if you win and would like fine teeth or something we can work that out. Also if you have a Pocketboy or other similar saw as I know several who participate in our contests do we can work out something else in a similar price range. I'm easy like Sunday morning basically.

My collage program was being a jerk so I did this one by hand in Photoshop it is kind of a lame picture. Plenty of info and pictures are on our site linked in my signature.




So have at it. Keep your phone in your pocket or your camera around your neck, take a walk in the woods or the city, and go find Spring Springing and Sprang!

And here's my example. We got up so early and the warm weather was just a couple of days so it was quite a chore to find some things popping up but we did. I told my son "let's find Spring" and he and I had a ball with it all over the city and the mountains. I had hoped to hear the Japanese Bush Warbler which is a traditional sign of spring here forever but it was just a bit early. If I catch one singing I'll be sure and put it up here somewhere, they have this amazing call and it really only can be heard at the very start of spring and into summer.

The music in this is by Clap Your Hands Say Yeah and the song is called Sunshine and Clouds (And Everything Proud), fitting I thought.

Not quite fair. It's been Spring here all winter.

Thought of that, there must be signs of changes even in the warmer climates. We are pretty warm here too with only snow up at the very tops of the mountains. That's part of the contest to find those tiny little changes. A couple here I've noticed are I saw my first bee a couple days ago and the bats are back out by the river waiting for the bugs to come back. Keep your eyes and ears open basically on this one.

GREAT! I saw this was up so quick and realized I forgot my standard stipulation of these must be new submissions and was worried it was older. But this is this year, this season wonderful thanks. Now I'm even more excited to see what people come up with.
