    Default I would consider

trying some low cost decent fixed blade such as the KaBar Piggyback, or the CRKT Ritter and Dogfish as proof-of-concept to see what lengths you can comfortably carry around your neck and in a pocket.

For me, this whole neck business doesn't work. The lower cost Chinese knives let me learn this w/o dropping the bigger bucks on, say, a Bark River.

If you wear loose fitting cargo pants as I do at work, it may be that a surprisingly large knife may be pocket carried. I statted with a Bark PSK, and went by steps up to an ESEE Izula fitted with handles.

As a PS, I found it quite easy to install a set of the lo-cost plastic Becker BK14 plastic handles on the Izula, and they add comfort w/o interfering with pocket or concealed IWB carry.

I work in an office environment and carry an Izula in my front pocket every day. It fits with no issues, I would be lost without it. It's naked, though, no scales of any kind.

The Izula carries beautifully in a front jeans pocket. Loop some para from your belt loop to the sheath; then when you pull it out, you can flip the sheath off w yer thumb. It drops and hangs so you can't lose it.

The candiru has a very low profile sheath(corduroy type) that is extremely flat, but folds over, meaning if its in your pocket it's a rectangle and doesn't look like a knife. I don't have scales, just threw para cord on it, and now carry it all the time. Remember that unless you"re a sheath maker, the sheath can bulk out some of these knives by 5mm which in your pocket, depending on what you're wearing can seem bulky. Good luck.

Becker BK11 w/ pocket sheath. You'd never know it's there...

Yep! The one in the Skystorm Leather pocket sheath is my EDC. Sits nice and flat in my front pocket, doesn't outline at all, and the knife and sheath together are lighter than my ZT350 folder.
