    Default Modded Opinels

I recently picked up another Opie for MrsVantramp to use and the lock ring was a bit stiff. I did a quick google search to see how common it was and if there was an easy fix and along with the answer, I stumbled onto a bunch of sites full of modified opies They were pretty cool to look at so I thought I would share the links. I can see modding some opies in my future now.

    Wow, a 480 Euro Opinel!!

How many Opinel could I buy for the price of just that one!

Some of the custom work I have to say is very inspiring, and makes me want to mod one now. I used to have a big collection of them back in the 80's to 90's while growing up. But ended up getting rid of them slowly while I moved around the country.

I really think I am going to have to get a few of them again, I really did love them as great practical functional knives, and now I know you can make them gorgeous too!

Wow some of those mods are really off the charts!

Here's the only mod I've done: a lanyard for my little #6.

Thanks for posting the mod Roamer, simple but nice! I haven't done anything to our Opies yet, I have been having too much fun messing with my Svord Peasant lately

I saw on Etsy yesterday where someone was selling #8 Opies for $68 each.. They had painted a simple stripe around them, and somehow magically the value rose by $50+

Nothing like the mods you posted but I did a little handle work on mine. I will try and get a pic for you.

Here are mine. Just a little mod to make them easier to open and hold + some file work on one.

That looks good Lg&m They are such simple knives that every/any customization makes them more interesting and "yours".

I have to order a few more for myself to mess with. I gave my last one away in a giveaway here and then got one for MrsVantramp since she liked them so well. I should have ordered a few more then!

Could have sworn I was looking at mine. Same firework and finger groove. One thing I did though was when I sanded under the collar I removed a bit too much on my 12 giving some wiggle to the lock. Now I know though.

Edited to fix whatever my iPhone thought I was trying to say.
