A couple weeks ago I got to get in the mountains for a few hours. It was a beautiful March day, sunny, around 40F. Snowshoed into one of my favorite draws which is full of douglas, balsam, and lodgepole, so dead standing is abundant. There was still 2 or 3 feet of snow in there so I kept the shoes on the whole time. Didn't do much, just a little fire and hot chocolate and relaxed. Sometimes the smaller diameter fir is full of little knots so it doesn't split very well but it burns well. Main tools for the day included a Bahco Laplander, Wetterlings axe, French trade knife from Sugar Creek Knifeworks, and a Zebra pot. Nothing special going on but still a good time.
