I'm a flint and steel with my char rope for starting fires in my woodstove... Gives me great practice...

I also have given up on bringing a lighter or matches, Now that I am good at using the firesteel, I fell better about having that in my pocket!.

I agree with you. the campfire is sorta like the kitchen table at home, it's where everyone ends up. To me, preparing the fixings for a fire, and building a fire with flint/steel or ferrorod makes it more personal and therefore more inviting.
